Hope Springs is a delightful movie that showcases the incredible acting talent of Kay (Meryl Streep) and Arnold (Tommy Lee Jones) in a wonderful story of self discovery in a hopelessly dysfunctional marriage. Kay wants to have a better life with Arnold and organises a one week retreat to 'Greater Hope Springs' which he reluctantly agrees to join. The seaside resort of Hope Springs is a delightful fishing village on the coast of Maine that has a wonderfully quaint feeling about it. Once there they meet (Steve Carell) Dr. Bernie Fields a marriage counsellor who brings a sense of being to the couple who have been married 31 years and have 2 adult children. The couple spend time each day being counselled by Bernie who takes them through their personal lives with his delightful insight into their problems. The sessions themselves are an absolute delight as their body language tells us of their rationalisation about the state of their marriage. Their embarrassment is highlighted at each step of their counselling till eventually they find each other.
