The Bourne Legacy is a powerful story that builds on the Jason Bourne saga in a credible way. Aaron Cross (Jeremy Renner, Hurt Locker) brings his charisma to this gripping espionage thriller with his outdoorsman’s gritty attitude to life as the driving force in this powerful yarn. The people who want to kill him keep referring to Jason Bourne which illustrates the paranoia. In the meantime the program that made him is being disbanded and the agents killed by the usual suspects from the Jason Bourne era. Early on he realises that after a few high powered incidents that his life is endangered by the actions of the organisation that employs him. He returns to America to find more of the medication that sustains him in his battle with the unseen demons in his life. He not only meets up with the woman Dr. Marta Shearing (Rachel Weisz) who knows him as number 5 but saves her life from the people who employed her. There are a number of exciting moments before they head for Manilla where the powerful medication is found. Manilla becomes the centre for serious action that leads them to the solution to their problems. A very satisfying movie for those who love their thrillers hard boiled.
