About this movie...
SHOUT is the highly emotional story of Johnny O’Keefe, the first great Australian Rock and Roll star to lead our popular music into a new era. All the greats of Australian Rock and Roll owe him for breaking the criticism of popular music and making it part of our everyday lives. This movie is a record of a musical theatre production that will only be seen in CINEPLEX CINEMAS.
The story follows his life and his music and shows us how many Australian music legends owe their success to him. The music is excellently recorded and lets us hear the GREAT Johnny O’Keefe’s songs as they were originally. The energy of the film reflects the same energy found in his wonderful live shows of yesteryear.
For the nostalgia fan there are a number of musicians from the history of Australian Rock and Roll played by various cast members.
The popular Tim Campbell from Home and Away plays the starring role as Johnny O’Keefe as he shows the rise and fall of our great Aussie legend.
Numerous 1970s rockers: Glenn Shorrock (J O'K's father), Colleen Hewett (J O'K's mother), Mark Holden (J O'K's manager) and John Paul Young in a variety of support roles. Alexis Fishman plays a major role in Shout as O'Keefe's first wife, Marianne, and performs brilliantly as his wife.
This is an excellent film that should touch us all.
