How To Get To The Cinemas

Finding our new Victoria Point Cineplex

We Victoria Point Cineplex is located at:

(Beside Library, across from Aldi)

All cinemas Balmoral, Hawthorne & South Bank are able to be accessed by car and good public transport including bus, ferry and train.

Access by Car
The Hawthorne Cinemas are conveniently located halfway along Hawthorne Road , Hawthorne between Dutton and Orchard Streets. There is a pedestrian crossing directly outside the foyer. Take a left turn off Wynnum Road if travelling from the City. It's only a ten minute drive from the CBD taking the Story Bridge or the Captain Cook Bridge (turn off at Vulture Street )! Check the map above or map (unsure- please insert) in the UBD.

Car Parking

Car Parking is on-street around the Hawthorne Cinemas with plenty of spaces alongside the huge park next to the cinemas. Please be aware that there are some signed "No Parking" spaces at the front of the Cinemas and outside the local shops. Police regularly patrol the area so don't ignore them!

The Balmoral Cineplex is conveniently located in Oxford Street in the trendy suburb of Bulimba. Nestled amongst the many cafes and restaurants between Pine and Wambool Streets. Follow Hawthorne Road or Riding Road from the City and Lytton Road from southern suburbs (turn off Lytton Road / Murrarie form the Gateway Arterial Road ) to the Oxford Street roundabout. Then turn down Oxford Street next to the Shell Garage.

Car Parking is available in two locations for cinema patrons only. Firstly there is undercover parking on Oxford Street if you turn right directly after "Otello on Oxford " restaurant. Secondly there is parking above the cinema accessible from Pine Street . It is the second driveway on the left when turning right from Oxford Street just before you reach the cinemas. When parking on top of the cinemas there are steps leading down to Oxford Street . There are designated Disabled parking spaces in the undercover car park that we ask you respectfully leave for those who need them. There are over 120 spaces in total.

SOUTH BANK 5 Cinema Complex is located on the corner of Ernest and Grey Streets in South Bank. South Bank Parklands has become a great entertainment destination for the people of Brisbane and also like Oxford Street has many restaurants to choose from.?

How it works...

When you watch a movie at South Bank 5 Your South Bank Parklands Parking is Only $2.00 for a maximum of 4 hours.!

  1. When you pick up your movie ticket, get your car park voucher from the box office
  2. Present this voucher at the car park when you leave and you'll only pay $2.00 for up to 4 hours. Over 4 hours will result in being charged the full rate at the carpark for the entire time.

Access by Bus
Buses travel from the City, Cannon Hill and Fortitude Valley regularly. For buses to the Hawthorne Cinemas you need to take one that sets down on Riding Road and then walk through the park or down Orchard Street to Hawthorne Road . For buses to the Balmoral Cineplex you need to take one that sets down on Oxford Street, Bulimba and get off near "Oxford 152". Alternately you can get off next to the "TAB" and Library on Riding Road and take the two minute walk down Oxford Street . Due to the regular updating of bus routes and numbers we suggest you check with TransInfo on 13-12-30 or at www.transinfo.qld.gov.au.

South Bank Cinemas also have very good access to bus stops. In addition to regular bus stops in Merivale, Cordelia, Golchester & Melbourne Street, South Bank Cinemas also an express free way bus station located on the corner of Colchester & Tribune Streets. Busses to South Bank are also regular from the City.

Access by Citycat and Ferry
Hawthorne Cinemas are serviced by Citycat to the Hawthorne stop and a ten minute walk along Lindsay Street will bring you to our door.

Balmoral Cineplex is serviced by Citycat and cross river ferry to the Bulimba stop. A five minute walk up Oxford Street will bring you to our door.

South Bank 5 Cinema complex is also accessible by city cat ferry and cross river ferry.

The CityCat terminal is located outside the Riverside Restaurants on the Clem Jones Promenade.

The Cross River Ferry terminal is located at the Boardwalk end of the Clem Jones Promenade.

Access by Train
The closest train station to Hawthorne & Balmoral Cinemas is Morningside which is on the Cleveland Line.

Hawthorne Cinemas is located approximately 20 minutes walk from Morningside Train Station and Balmoral Cinemas about 35 minutes walk.

South Bank Cinemas is located only a few minutes walk from either South Bank or South Brisbane Train Stations. The South Bank Station is accessed off Tribune Street.

The South Brisbane Railway Station is accessed via Melbourne Street .
